Maharashtra’s Mini Kashmir- Tapola.

Tapola is very famous and one of the most attractive destination in Satara District. It is denoted as mini Kashmir of Satara because of its simply loving natural beauty. Tapola gives a very stunning view into the Valley of Sahyadri Mountains with koyna dam in between the mountains. It is located on side of shivsagar backwater of the koyna dam project located at koynanagar, Satara. It offers you to do many activities like boating, swimming, jetty ride and many more water sports are available in the town. Also Tapola and its surroundings own very great and motivating history of Shri Chatrapati Shivaji maharaj.




The region has very scenic places that cannot be enjoyed anywhere in Maharashtra. Also, Tapola is very near to the Sahyadri tiger reserve project and koyna wildlife sanctuary. Historical forts like madhu-makrand gad, vasota, jangli jaigad and pratapgad are very near and approachable from the village. Camping activities are also the reason tourists visit here. The area often receives very high rainfall in rainy season and it is suggested to avoid travelling here in the same, due to often sliding happening in the ghat roads.



Tapola is situated in Mahabaleshwar/Jaoli tehsil of the Satara District. It is very well connected with the local transport system. However, nearest railway station is 70km away in Satara. Maharashtra’s favourite weekend spot Mahabaleshwar is very near as 30 kms from the village and the road is very scenic and dangerous often. Tapola is 60 km away from the Satara city and around 150 kms from pune. While coming from Satara, one can take jetty boat to avoid road travelling and can reach Tapola in short time.

Mahabaleshwar: Mahabaleshwar hill station is located 30 km away from the Tapola village and can be reached by ghat roads present around.

Sahyadri Tiger Reserve: it is the forest reserve for various animals spread across sahyadri mountain range in Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur district which is very near from Tapola.

Pratapgad fort: Historical monument as in pratapgad fort is around 45 km away from the Tapola station and can be reached by road transport only.

Kaas Platue: kaas platue is the valley of flowers in western ghats around 50 km away from the Tapola.

Satara: Satara City is located 60-70 km away from the village and kaas platue and bamnoli village can be visited while on route.

Forts like vasota, pratapgad and madhu makrand gad are present in the surroundings can be visited for jungle trek experience and historical learnings.
