Malvan is very famous tourist attraction spot in Sindhudurg district of konkan region. Malvan is situated on the western coast of Maharashtra state. With great tourist attraction spots, malvan also has very great historical markings. Fishing and agriculture are main occupations done by local people. Also, the Malvan tehsil is well known famous for its Alphonso mangoes. The small town have very scenic beaches and temples. It is well known for its refreshing and clean beaches. Also, the malvan is known for Sindhudurga fort which was built by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj back in 17th century.


Malvan and its surrounding area is also famous for its local culture. Dashavtar is one of the act done by people in festival seasons of different villagaes. It represents basically 10 incarnations of hindu god Vishnu. Malvani dishes and malvani taste in different types of dishes is very famous across the region. Tourist came here to taste malvani dishes which can only be available in this region. Malvani khaja is a sweet which is very famous in sindhudurg and Kolhapur district region.

Sindhudurg Fort

There are many spots to visit in malvan apart from beaches. Malvan has its own wildlife sanctuary which was created in the year 1987. The core zone of the sanctuary includes padmagad and sindhudurg fort. Many water sports adventures activities and scooba diving can be done here at affordable rates. Bumper boat, banana ride, scooba diving, jet-ski, kayakas and etc. water rides are available here and also can be booked online. The best time to visit town is from august to May. However, it can be enjoyed all through the year.

How to Reach:

Malvan is around 400 km away from Pune city, 390 km away from Mumbai city, 270 km away from Satara and 150 km away from Kolhapur city. It is well connected by road transport and also local bus transport is available through all nearest cities very frequently.

From Pune: Pune- Satara- Karad- Narayanwadi- Malkapur (through Amba Ghat)- Rajapur- Oros- Malvan.

From Mumbai: Mumbai- Roha- Mangoan- Khed- Sangameshwar-Ratnagiri- Rajapur- Oros- Malvan. Or Mumbai- Pune- Satara- Karad- Narayanwadi- Malkapur (through Amba Ghat)- Rajapur- Oros- Malvan.

Kunkeshwar: A very beautiful temple of lord shiva kunkeshwar is located around 42 km away from malvan which is a temple on the side of the beach in devgad tehsil.

Devgad/ Devgad Fort: Devgad fort is 50 km away far from malvan and can be visited onroute of vijaydurg fort.
