Raireshwar Fort
Raireshwar is a very well-known for its very
important historical moment. Raireshwar is a big and wide platue in pune
district and also is known as fort. Raireshwar fort is located in Bhor tehsil
of pune district in the sahyadri mountain range at the height of 4589 ft. Raireshwar
fort separates the two district which are Satara and Pune. Raireshwar Platue
and its surrounding area is very scenic and beautiful during monsoon and winter
season.
It has very high historical significance as
chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj came here before starting the Maratha Empire or his
own Hindu rule, and took oath of creation of Swarajya. We can say Raireshwar
fort is a birthplace of Swarajya. The oath was taken into the Mahadev temple on
the fort and Shivaji Maharaj gives his blood onto the Shivling for the oath.
The trek to the place is very easy, vehicles can go up
to the half of the fort from Bhor and also from Wai. There are stairs available
to go on the top of the fort. Mahadev temple, Gomukh lake, Aswal Lake and
pandavleni are the the places that can be visited on the Raireshwar fort. The
temple on the fort is very old and it was re constructed in 18th
century again.
Seven colours soil is a very famous attraction on
the Raireshwar fort. After visiting the temple, you have to walk further for
another 20 minutes to reach the spot where you can see different seven colours
of the soil at one place only.
Many Trekker do range treks from the Raireshwar fort
through Nakhind and Aswalkhind through the dense forest of Jaoli region of Satara
district up to Mahabaleshwar or Pratapgad Fort.
How to reach:
Raireshwar fort is located in Bhor tehsil of the
pune district. The fort is only 85 km away from the Pune city, 225 km away from
the Mumbai city, 63 km away from the Satara City and around 180 km far from the
Kolhapur city. The fort has good reachability by the road transport. You can
use private transport and also public transport is available.
From Mumbai: Mumbai- Pune- Nasarapur Phata- Bhor-
Ambawade- Raireshwar Fort.
From Pune: Pune- Nasarapur Phata- Bhor- Ambawade-
Raireshwar Fort.
From Satara: Satara- Panchwad- Wai- Raireshwar fort.
From Kolhapur: Kolhapur- Satara- Panchwad- Wai-
Raireshwar fort.
Camping can be done at Raireshwar platue near the
temple or near the iron stairs. Lunch or dinner can be arranged from the Village
on the Raireshwar platue. Camping should not be done far from the village as
many wild animals roam around the area, so it is dangerous and not suggested to
go further far from the village area.

Kenjalgad Fort: Kenjalgad fort which have very beautifully
carved stairs in the stone is only 5 km away from the Raireshwar Platue and can
be visited in the same day.
Wai: Wai- The temple city or dakhshin kasha of
Maharashtra is only 27 km away from the raireshwa fort.
Menvali Ghat: Menavali ghat and Nana Fadanvis Wada
is located in menevali village very near to the Wai town can be visited along
with the Rarireshwar fort.
Panchgani: A very famous panchgani hill station is
only 40 km away from the Raireshwar fort.
